A Fifty-Word Horror Story

The zombies crashed into the house.

“Brains!” they moaned.

The family was gathered around the television, watching. None of them moved.

The zombies scratched their heads. The parents were staring at the screen. The children’s mouths hung open.

“No brains!” the zombies moaned.

And moved on to the next house.

It’s funny you say that about education. I actually originally published this piece on Every Writer’s Resource. A teacher in Australia found it and wanted to use it in her class as an example of flash fiction. Naturally I would have been delighted to let her – but unfortunately the email address she sent me was invalid and I wasn’t able to contact her. So I suppose I’ll have to use other methods to spread the word to the next generation ;)

As someone who is secretly looking forward to the zombie apocalypse, now I have an idea of a course of action should they arrive when I don’t have any weapons readily on hand. :) Thanks for the tip!
