Authors with Blogs Wanted for a Writing Process Blog Hop!

Are you an author with a blog? Would you like to participate in a writing process blog hop?

It’s simple! Here’s what you would need to do:

1) Send me a short bio and a link to your blog.

2) On June 16th I will link to your blog from my blog in a blog post like that described in step 3.

3) On June 23rd you do the following:

a. Link back to my blog with the bio information below saying I am the one who introduced you to the blog hop.

b. Answer these four questions about yourself in that blog post:

i. What am I working on?

ii. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

iii. Why do I write what I do?

iv. How does your writing process work?

c. At the bottom or your blog post give the bio and link to three other bloggers/authors you’ve found – this will continue the chain.

Here is my bio and website information:

Lori Schafer is a writer of serious prose and humorous erotica and romance. More than thirty of her short stories, flash fiction, and essays have appeared in a variety of print and online publications, and her first novel, a work of women’s fiction entitled My Life with Michael: A Story of Sex and Beer for the Middle-Aged, will be released in 2015. Also forthcoming in 2015 is her second novel Just the Three of Us: An Erotic Romantic Comedy for the Commitment-Challenged. On the more serious side, her memoir, On Hearing of My Mother’s Death Six Years After It Happened: A Daughter’s Memoir of Mental Illness, will be published in October 2014. When she isn’t writing (which isn’t often), Lori enjoys playing hockey, attending beer festivals, and spending long afternoons reading at the beach.

If you’re interested, please e-mail me at lorilschafer(at)outlook(dot)com to confirm. I will take the first three authors to respond. I look forward to learning more about you!

      Hi Elise,

I currently have two confirmed and one pending. My thought is that if I end up with an extra person who wants to participate, I’ll pass their info on to one of the three I take.

How you find the three to link to is up to you. I decided it would be in the spirit of the project – discovering new authors – if I made a public search rather than simply contacting people I already know. So I posted on my blog and then promoted it on Twitter. But you might prefer other methods.

Hi Lori. I’m more than touched that you have included me in this idea. That said, I’m so new to blogging five weeks and counting) that I don’t really feel I know enough bloggers yet to ask them to participate. I’d be happy to share the bio and the ref to our blog of course but it’s the handing on the baton piece that is a tad scary just now. Would you mind if I sat out for a while and watched how this developed? I still grateful that people even notice my existence on line. PS the hockey – field or ice?

That’s great, Geoff – thanks for the interest. I’ll keep you posted, and if I end up with an extra volunteer I can pass on, I’ll be happy to let you know. It would be nice if you could participate, particularly since your blog is so new.

In answer to your question, ice hockey – is there any other kind? ;)

Hmm. Nope, don’t really get ice hockey. It’s not a spectator sport, well not on the TV anyway and the only reason I continue to attempt to ice skate is because I have a disproportionately large gluteus maximus to absorb the shock. And ‘slapping the puck’ sounds like something you might use in your erotic comedies so you can’t really take it seriously, can you? Whereas field hockey – ah, the rhythms of the plays – though it’s not been the same since they scrapped the bully off frankly….

I started playing because I thought it was funny the way the players are always falling down and sliding all over the place. In how many sports do you see that? Plus the fighting’s hysterical – every time someone throws a punch, the other guy slides away from him! I don’t do that, of course – but it’s funny to see ;)

My god daughter is a massive Sharks fan and promises to explain the choreography of the fights when I’m next in SF to see them. She says she will convert me.

Would’ve loved to have picked you up on this, but already been pinned down for it by another blogger. I’ll be interested in what you say about your process, however, esp. re my comments on your previous post about memoir versus fiction.
