Thank you, Debby. I’m normally not so big on pictures and videos – not if I’m in them, anyway! – but the left-handed typing is so time-consuming (and frankly, exhausting!) that it was almost a relief to just take the six minutes and get it done :)
Whatever it takes to stay in touch! I commend your bravery lol, I don’t know that I would have the nerve to do same – almost as frightening as public speaking. :)
Feel for you, Lori, tho’ impressed with your adaptation. Must be exhausting on top of the pain. Some packets are a faff to open even with two functioning hands
It’s certainly no picnic! I’m basically working twice as hard and getting half as much done. But then I think – what if I still had my old job, which no one else in the company could do? It would be impossible, not to mention a thousand times more miserable. At least I have the leisure of being at home, so I’m grateful for that,
Oh Lori, I so sympathize! Ten years ago I was similarly afflicted with a rotator cuff injury which put my arm out of action for a number of weeks. Like your injury, my shoulder was extremely painful and movement was impossible. It was as if my arm was glued to my side. Showering, dressing, everything was extremely difficult and painful. At least for me, being right-handed, the fact that the injury was in my left shoulder wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I notice that it is your right shoulder that is injured. Are you left or right-handed? You did a pretty good job of making that sandwich. It’s amazing what can be done with just one hand. As you said, you have previous experience! I wish you a speedy recovery! :)
Ooh, rotator cuff sounds even worse! Me, I’m so scared of re-dislocating the stupid thing that I don’t dare to move it – I’m thinking I might just sleep with the sling forever! I am right-handed but I get along pretty well with the left except for writing by hand – which I hardly have to do anymore – and brushing my teeth. Hair’s easy, but teeth are hard – go figure. Does yours still bother you, or did you make a complete recovery? Curious as to what the future holds. :)
It wasn’t pleasant! But all good now. I did lose a bit of strength in my arm as a result of rupturing one of the bicep muscles. Teeth are difficult I agree. I have been using an electric toothbrush for about ten years and if I am ever without it find the brushing action very difficult and unfamiliar.
I wish you a full recovery and back into that writing very soon. :)
My first horror movie of the day – I couldn’t stop watching your hands as you struggled with the slices. What a totally bummer. And all this for weeks? Yuk. Still more vlogs I guess. All the very best Lori.
Thanks, Geoff. Sounds as though I’ve got lots of company – which doesn’t really make me feel any better! Actually, though, the emotional burden is worse than the physical one. I’d be much better able to tolerate the discomfort if I wasn’t so worried about it – it’s the spasms and constant pulling sensation that really get to me. I look forward to the day when that fear passes!
Feel better Lori. Clever blog! :)
